Getting Started


Please contact me if you are considering a new site, a re-design, or any other web project. I will answer questions that you may have and try to help you to organize your information and thoughts. The following is here to guide you, I will help in the process.

It is a good idea to use the following steps if you are planning to get a website:

Look around at other sites on the internet, find sites that you really like and bookmark them. Also look at sites that are in a similar industry, bookmark them for reference even if you don't like them. Put those links into an e-mail to me or into a Word document, noting what you like or don't like about each site, and notice the navigation. This will help you to determine better what your own site needs, and what design you like. When you are ready, send that information along to me, it will help to better understand your tastes and site needs a bit better.

Think about what you want on your own site, start by organizing how you want your site to be set up, what navigational links you will need; for example, home page, contact page, faq page, about us page, etc.

A good way to decide what you will need is to think about all of the information you will want included on the site, then think about where it should go, on what pages, in outline form. It doesn't have to be final when you submit your information to me, it will just save you time and money if you have a general idea of what you want. Next you can start thinking about what information (content) you may wish to use, including text, pictures, animations, and any general site ideas you may have.

Gather and organize the content into seperate folders; text in MS-Word (.doc) or text files, pictures (files in the form of jpg for photos and graphics with gradients and gradual color change, or gif for solid blocks of color and text-like graphics) on CD's, zip disks, or on your harddrive if the files are small enough in file size to be e-mailed. I will make animations and any graphics that you will need, but if there are existing photos or images that you have, that again will save time and money.
